Sorø, Slagelse and region Vestsjælland
Sorø is beautiful nature, forest and lake
Sorø is surrounded by many forests, lakes and streams. In these beautiful surroundings, an academy, a monastery and a church were founded in the Middle Ages. We start most of our balloon flights from Sorø town itself, giving you the best perspective to see both Sorø Academy and Academy Garden, Sorø Monastery Church, which dates back to the 12th century, and the beautiful lakes that are a central part of Sorø’s cityscape and life.
Tystrup-Bavelsesøerne and eagles
The valley with the Tystrup-Bavelsesøerne lakes is considered one of Zealand’s most beautiful and magnificent landscapes. Around the lake you can, for example, observe sea eagles. Unfortunately, it is very rare that we can see eagles from the hot air balloon, as they prefer to stay down as we glide by. The area around the Tystrup-Bavelsesøerne islands is currently protected, but it is incredibly beautiful to fly over.
The nature around Sorø also offers Åmosen, magnificent beech forests and lakes, and not least Susåen, which can be seen cutting through the landscape south of the flight area. It’s not uncommon for us to greet amazed canoeists when we cross the Susåen at low altitude.
Maybe we’ll get lucky and fly over Bjernede Round Church just east of Sorø, which is characterized by being Zealand’s only round church.
Look to the Danish islands
Looking up, there are usually great views of both the Great Belt and the Great Belt Bridge, as well as a view of the Småland waters south of Zealand, with Agersø, Omo and Glænø. It’s not uncommon to be able to see Langeland and Funen from the balloon.
As Sorø is so well located in Zealand, we can fly out of the city in almost any direction. Whether we head north towards Dianalund, Ruds-Vedby and Åmose Å, or we soar south towards the friendly coastline at Bisserup Strand and Næstved, we can promise beautiful scenery from the best perspective; the safe basket of the hot air balloon.
Moving further north in the region, the Isefjord comes into play with views of the Lammefjord, Tuse Næs, Orø and all of northwest Zealand. From the hot air balloon we can then look out onto Sjællands Odde and glimpse Sejrø and Nekselø in the bay.

Hot air balloon flights take place either in the hours just before sunset or in the hours right after sunrise. During the flying season, the meeting and flight times will therefore vary according to the times of sunrise and sunset.

The chase vehicle follows the balloon on the ground and aims to arrive at the landing site shortly after the balloon has landed.
