In Denmark, a balloon flight costs between DKK 1995 and 2395 per person. The ticket price often depends on the operator, the region, the type of flight (morning/evening), and many other factors.
Not all balloon tickets are the same.
Danish balloon companies operate in different ways. Some offer different prices for weekday and weekend flights, as well as for morning and evening flights. Weekend and evening balloon flights are the most popular, which is why their prices can be higher than those of morning flights on weekdays.
However, depending on the balloon company’s working methods, the waiting time for a flight can also vary. Many companies wait until they have gathered a suitable number of ticket buyers in a given area, and only then do they contact the customers and offer a flight date.
How does it work at DreamBalloon?
Our tickets cost between DKK 1995 and 2395. Once a prospective passenger has purchased a ticket, they receive a reservation code, which they can use to sign up for both morning and evening flights in any region and on any date.
We regularly publish the planned flights in a flight calendar, so you don’t have to wait but can book the flight you want right away. Even in the high season (July/August), we do everything we can to ensure that there is always access to available places on our flights, although it is quite natural that there is an increased demand for all tourist and holiday activities during this period. We therefore recommend that you sign up well in advance.
Why is it so expensive?
Questions and comments we sometimes get:
– Why is it so expensive?
– If the tickets cost DKK 1000, I might fly
– Is there a pilot with it/can I buy such a balloon myself?
It is important to remember that a hot air balloon, despite its aesthetic charm and frequent appearance in cartoons and children’s books, is actually an aircraft that is subject to the Danish Transport Authority – and that there are strict regulations for flying it – DreamBalloon is an airline.
The purchase and maintenance of a certified balloon and its equipment, fuel, salaries for a crew of several people, and a pilot with an advanced license for commercial flight – all contribute significantly to the ticket price. In addition, the organization of each flight involves other significant expenses. The balloon must be transported in a special trailer pulled by a four-wheel drive vehicle. The storage of the balloon is also important. Like other aircraft, it requires a dry and heated room. This, of course, also creates a number of costs.
To the question “Can I buy such a balloon myself?” we gladly answer Yes! But we advise you to get educated first and obtain the necessary license 🙂
Balloon pilot licenses are divided into 4 groups depending on the size of the balloon we fly. At DreamBalloon, we typically fly with large balloons, as this limits some of the expenses and allows us to keep ticket prices at a level that people can afford. All our pilots have a group D license, which means that they are entitled to fly the largest balloons in existence.
