Balloon trip Funen - unique experience with DreamBalloon

As the only provider on Funen, DreamBalloon offers unique experience flights in hot air balloons. Funen, Denmark's second largest island, is a particularly interesting flying area where you will quickly realize that you are surrounded by water on all sides.

Where do we start from?

Our starting points on Funen are primarily centered around the middle of the island, giving us the flexibility to adapt to different wind directions.

On Funen, we most often use starting points in Ringe, Tommerup, Ã…rslev or from Egeskov Castle.

We can never set a take-off location before the day of the flight, as we need to know the wind directions to plan the flight.

Balloon flight over the beautiful island of Funen

The South Funen Archipelago, the Little Belt to the west, the Kattegat to the north and the Great Belt to the east form a breathtaking setting for your flight. The island suddenly appears small from above, but don’t worry – we’ll make sure you get back down safely. Although Funen is a relatively small area to fly over, there are plenty of spectacular viewpoints to explore.

Funen’s history is characterized by its fertile farmland, many market towns and its central role as a traffic hub. The island is also home to Denmark’s largest number of manor houses, which is evident when soaring over the landscape in a hot air balloon. If the wind direction allows, we can even take off from Egeskov Castle, one of Europe’s best preserved moated castles. From here you’ll get a fantastic view south over the islands around Svendborg Sound and the beautiful South Funen archipelago.

Hot air balloon flights take place either in the hours just before sunset or in the hours right after sunrise. During the flying season, the meeting and flight times will therefore vary according to the times of sunrise and sunset.

We are in the air for about an hour, depending slightly on wind and weather conditions, suitable landing spots, etc. However, you should plan for at least four hours for the entire experience.

Hot air balloons cannot be steered. They follow the wind's direction, and you never know exactly where you will land. After about 50 minutes, the pilot begins looking for a suitable landing site.

The chase vehicle follows the balloon on the ground and aims to arrive at the landing site shortly after the balloon has landed.

We alternate between a wide range of different flying regions in Zealand, Funen, and Jutland. In Jutland, we most often fly in the area around Silkeborg. On Funen, we typically start in the area between Tommerup, Årslev, and Ringe. In Zealand, we alternate between 4 flying regions: North Zealand, Roskilde, Jystrup/Ringsted, and Sorø.
